Tinsmithing

Expert tinsmithing by the team of mother and son, Lee and Terry Winborne, of SW Virginia. Their products are made from "tinplate" which is sheet steel with a thin layer of tin coating. An object made of tin darkens with age but can be protected by occasionally rubbing with mineral oil or being dusted with Endust. If small rust spots appear, the tin can be rubbed with 4-0 (grade 0000) steel wool.
