| Welcome to Folk Art Net, a virtual gallery of local outsider art, folk art and country antiques. Several years ago, I was told by the late Howard Smith (a noted collector), to look in "my backyard" and I could find folk artists of all types. How true this is! One artist led me to a fellow artist and then another and another. Our backyard has now expanded to the world. Most of the artists that we include in our folk art gallery are unknowns. This does not mean their self-taught art is less than a known artist, only that they have not been discovered by the mainstream dealers in the outsider art world. We hope that through our gallery we can help these unknown artists gain the proper recognition they deserve.
